The Pico Acid Test March 12, 1966 (EXPANDED VERSION)
Danish Center, Los Angeles, CA
The 8th song, previously notated as "unknown instrumental" on Deadlists, is a cover of Freddy King's "Heads Up." The 9th tune, previously listed as "The Same Thing (instrumental)," is definitely NOT that song. Although it is a
standard blues and sounds similar at the beginning, closer listening makes it pretty obvious that it is an entirely different song, title unknown. The Viola Lee Blues on this expanded version is a different version than on the
previous three song version of Pico Acid Test. This is an ongoing mystery, although it should be said that both versions are worth having.

Hype-buster strikes again, sorry
Pretty good for a bunch of amateurs. Although everybody's playing pretty competently, the only one who's clearly already a star is Pigpen. If every song had him singing lead, I'd give it a five too.

The Grateful Dead: Show #20
Acid Test 14 of 19.
And another killer show. This is in fact from 1966-03-19 though (nice catch Zoomabooma). Next Time You See Me really made the show for me... Have a great big hand for the ice cream man. Some of Bobby's funniest material. The jam before Death Don't also fit the groove of the show very well. First Beat It On Down The Line?.. First one I've noticed anyway.

Simple and true
This is not only a remarkable sounding show but it's just so simple it's true.

blast from the past
whatever date this is -- what a gem. I love the banter. Yes it was an acid test. Yea think?
I'd never heard "You See a Broken Heart" -- fantastic work between Pig and Jerry. A great Viola Lee too -- I'm searching for the best one out there (not many to choose from but what fun to find this funky blues tune in their rep.)
thank you thank you thank you all you tapers!!! And Archive for making this happen!! Makes my day -- everyday.
